Thanksgiving Notes

Pre-COVID meeting place. We meet on Zoom now --and are a bi-coastal class now.
Pre-COVID meeting place. Since March, we’ve met on Zoom and are a bi-coastal class now.

22 November, 2020 —-My father died from Covid in May. We lost an aunt in June, but it’s unclear what finally took her.

Somehow it was arranged that I could safely have a major surgery in June. Am happily recovered. Amazed at, and thankful for, the skill and devotion of our medical healer people.

Am teaching/facilitating the memoir writing courses over the Zoom platform.

Wishing I’d bought stock in Zoom.

The current memoir writing session has 3 more weeks to go. It’s always a rich, fascinating ride listening to the stories. We’ll pickup again with a new 6 or 7 week session in January 2021. If you’d like to be notified, send me an email.

Most of my clients are writing for their family’s information; to pass the stories down clearly. Some clients are writing for publication, either as short stories or a book-length memoir. Some are brand new to writing; some are writing professionals.

The process is the same: show up and write the memories down. Then we polish a bit, flesh out the stories, get the details down. It’s really something to witness.

I send a hearty THANK YOU to all my memoirists. And to those of you who may take this on in 2021.

The fridge is clean. The spices are sorted and arranged aesthetically. Cool weather crops are planted in the flower pots. I’ve bookmarked YouTube videos on gentle yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, and Zumba. Any minute I’ll start them, probably right after I become fluent in French and Italian via the free online classes. And in between checking my temperature. Waving to you all from my balcony……and sending you the love and good health vibes. —Barbara Mayfield. 23/March/2020  Southeastern Pennsylvania, Montgomery County, a hotspot.
